Research Process‎ > ‎

Initiation

Initiation is the first step in the Information Search Process.

At this point in the research you are introduced to the topic area. During this stage you start to realise what you already know about the topic and other areas of the topic that you want to build more knowledge about.

At this stage it is good to start recording your thoughts about the topic. One way to achieve this is to create a mind map. There are many ways to create a mind map from using paper and pens to online apps like Bubbl.us or Popplet

At this stage your thoughts and feelings may be mixed from feeling uncertain as you start to comprehend and understand what it is you are being asked to do.

The next stage is the Selection stage
